Message from the Parliamentary Secretary for Schools, Tim Richardson MP
I’m incredibly passionate about inclusive education and in ensuring that every single student – no matter their postcode or circumstance – has access to a first class education. To this end, the Victorian Government through the Department of Education and Training, provides a range of resources for Victorian government schools to support students with language and learning difficulties:
• All government primary and secondary schools are provided with additional funding under the Language and Learning Disabilities Support Program which they can use for additional supports for students with learning difficulties, including teaching, education support or allied health staff, professional development or specialist educational materials.
• The Inclusive Classrooms professional learning program, which supports students with learning difficulties including dyslexia, is available at no cost to government schools.
• The Learning Difficulties including dyslexia face-to-face professional learning program was successfully implemented across Victoria throughout 2018 and 2019.
Schools and families can find out more about these supports by visiting the Department’s website: https://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/teachers/learningneeds/Pages/
I will continue to be a strong advocate for all students in our community including those with a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia.
